Scratching

Scratching hearts, we meet one day
Across the great abyss;
Your hand it reaches out for mine
And I long for your passionate kiss.

Divided, we build a flimsy bridge
To last us just a moment;
You slide on in and fill me up
I’ve hardly time to comment.

And then you’re gone,
Only a second truly blissful;
And in its place I’m lonely,
I’m angry, I’m miserable.

I wonder at the comfort
Associated with temporary touch;
Is it the claw marks on your heart
That make it worth so much?
